SGN Questionnaire

Forgive this page being here but it is one of two places I can host a private questionnaire that is not viewable by the general public!  It has come about as follow up to my idea that folks might like to come south to the Border Country for a change of scenery, history and culture.  Initially I mooted the idea of a  visit to Hawick Archives, which met with a degree of public positivity on the FB page, only to be informed behind the scenes that the last visit was very poorly attended.  In some ways this is understandable - even with the advent of the Borders Railway, Hawick remains somewhat problematic for those who do not drive and rely on public transport.  So, having had a chat with Jane and in order to avoid this happening again, it was suggested that we sound out what the members would actually like to do.  After all, there is a lot to the old Border Marches of both countries that sets them apart historically from the respective national histories, and also aspects that played crucial roles that gel them together.  Below are some outline ideas - they are not set in tablets of stone!  Please feel free to select as few or as many as you think relevant.  Oh and please leave your comments and suggestions - these are important too!

    Border Events Questionnaire

Hawick Archives is a fantastic resource for us here in the Borders, and the archiving policy introduced by Paul Brough is rich in names of people and places making it particularly user friendly for family history research.  However, Hawick is perhaps not the most accessible for many SGN members.
    Berwick upon Tweed
Berwick has the benefit of a direct trains service to and from many parts of Scotland making it highly accessible to SGN members who do not drive, or those who would perhaps like to have the choice!  All of what Berwick town has to offer is within walking distance of the train station.
I am sure there are many things I could have also included, but have overlooked.  I hope you have added these within the suggestion boxes.

    Many thanks for your time
